  • Oil company gives six lakh rupees per person in case of death in accident

  • 215.6 lakh people have LPG connection in the state

  • Relief amount of Rs 25 thousand per person is given immediately

  • Written information has to be given to the gas distributor within 24 hours

Subodh Kumar Nandan, Patna. Customers of Indane Gas, Bharat Gas or Hindustan Gas are not taking advantage of LPG Life Insurance Scheme after any accident. According to public oil companies and distributors, not a single customer has claimed for accident insurance in the state in the last five years. In this scheme, the LPG customer does not have to pay any insurance premium. This is a third party insurance. According to the officials of the public oil companies, the oil company gives six lakh rupees per person in case of death in the accident. Medical expenses of Rs 30 lakh per incident, maximum Rs 2 lakh per person and immediate relief amount of Rs 25 thousand per person is given. It is known that 215.6 lakh people have LPG connections in the state.

How to get the benefit of insurance

This insurance policy comes under social liability. If for some reason a blast occurs from an LPG cylinder, then in that case the gas companies have to pay an insurance claim. The relative or kin of the customer has to give written information about the accident to the gas distributor within 24 hours. A copy of the police report has to be attached with it. Then the gas distributors inform about the accident to the gas company. In case of property damage, a team comes from the oil company, they access the property and decide the insurance.

certificate has to be given

Officials told that in case of death, death certificate, postmortem certificate has to be given. Only then you will get the benefit of insurance. And in case of an accident, the medical bill and prescription bill have to be paid. Only after that the insurance bill is received. The discharge bill will have to be given to the concerned oil company company.

property damage insurance

If the customer damages someone’s property in the blast, then the payment is made after assessing the damage to the property. If the customer has a registered property (premises), then payment up to Rs 2 lakh is made after assessment of the property of the customer.

General Secretary of Bihar LPG Distributors Association, Dr. Ramnaresh Prasad Sinha said that in the last five years, not a single case related to LPG insurance has come to any agency in the state including Patna. The main reason for this is the lack of information among LPG customers. Be it Indian Oil Corporation or Bharat Gas or Hindustan Petroleum Company. Insurance premium amount is deducted from the commission of the distributor.
