Ankit Kumar, Senior Correspondent

PRABHAT KHABAR EXCLUSIVE: Students of Muzaffarpur Institute of Technology (MIT) have made a double achievement. The mechanical automatic on-off motor switch prepared by five college students has got a patent. The same project has also been selected for Bihar Startup Scheme. Now students will also get a loan of Rs 10 lakh to start this work at the industry level.

The team includes team leader Vivek Kumar, second year student of Biomedical and Robotics Engineering, Md. Motsim Alam of the same branch, Aman Kumar of Electrical second year, Prince Kumar and Md. Danish of Mechanical second year. Faculty in-charge of Start Cell, Prof. Sanjay Kumar said that he was the first student to join the cell. The prestige of MIT has increased due to the selection of his project at two levels. This will inspire other students also.

Let us tell you that this project was included in the list of 17 best projects selected from the list of 500 projects in the event held at IIT Patna. Due to its direct connection with the common people, this project has also been selected for startup.

Mechanical switch will work like this

Team leader Vivek said that this will be the first mechanical switch which will be installed directly in the tank. After filling the tank, the pipe through which water comes out. This switch will be fitted in it. After this, we can refill the tank as much as we want after it is empty. That big pipe will be attached to the switch and fitted.

The dimension of the pipe will remain connected with the surface of the water. As soon as the water level goes below the prescribed standard. The switch will give command to the motor. With this, water will start filling the tank. Then as soon as the tank is filled the dimension of the pipe will change. This will give the command to stop the motor.

Vivek tells that when he was in 12th class, he used to study by staying in the school hostel. Many times the motor remained running there. There was a fear of the motor burning due to this. Besides, there was wastage of water also. At that time the teachers had said that a solution should be found for this. Vivek developed this mechanical switch under the same thinking.

Mohd. Maatsim, Aman, Prince and Danish also helped in developing it. Vivek tells that this switch will be available at a cost of only three hundred rupees. If people bring alarm or MCB from the market, it costs a minimum of five to eight hundred rupees. In such a situation, it will be available in the market for people with low budget.
