Mahindra Thar is a name which is liked by most of the off-road SUV enthusiasts. The DI edition of the Thar was the Mahindra MM540, which was launched in 1985. Mahindra has made many changes in its design since that time. However, the DI engine was not available in BS4 spec. Hence Thar DI was available only in cities where BS4 norms had not been adopted. It was available at that time with a 2,523 cc turbo diesel engine with both 2WD and 4WD options, generating a maximum power of 63 BHP.
