Poonch attack: sniffer dogs are searching for cowardly terrorists, drones are flying in the sky

Poonch Terror Attack: Five soldiers were martyred in a terrorist attack on Thursday in Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir. After this attack, the security forces have started a big search operation in the dense forest of Bata-Doria area. Drones and sniffer dogs were used in this operation on Friday, while an MI helicopter reconnoitred the dense forest area. Officials have given information in this regard.

A team of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) visited the spot and inspected the area and the vehicle that was attacked. Officials said that top police and army officials including Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh, ADGP Mukesh Singh reviewed the operation. Officials said that the entire area has been cordoned off and drones and sniffer dogs are being used to find the terrorists.

Martyred soldiers of Rashtriya Rifles unit

The army said in a statement that the soldiers killed in the attack belonged to the Rashtriya Rifles unit and were deployed for anti-terrorist operations in the area. Five jawans were killed while another jawan was seriously injured when an army vehicle caught fire after a terrorist attack in Poonch on Thursday. The army said the vehicle in which the jawans were traveling came under attack by unidentified terrorists and caught fire, possibly due to being hit by a grenade.

According to officials, strict vigil is being maintained along the LoC and traffic has been stopped on Bhimber Gali-Poonch road and people have been advised to go to Poonch via Mendhar. The martyred soldiers have been identified as Havildar Mandeep Singh, Lance Naik Debashish Baswal, Lance Naik Kulwant Singh, Sepoy Harkrishna Singh and Sepoy Sevak Singh.

After paying homage to the martyred jawans at a function in Rajouri, the mortal remains of Lance Naik Debasish of Alagum Sami village in Puri district in Odisha were airlifted to his native place for last rites. The mortal remains of Mandeep Singh, Kulwant Singh, Harkrishna Singh and Sevak Singh are being sent by road to their native places.
