In its advisory sent to political parties, the Election Commission conveyed its zero tolerance policy towards the use of children in any way by parties and candidates during the electoral process.

Politicians will not be able to even hold children in their lap during rallies

The Election Commission said in the guidelines that leaders and candidates should not use children in any way in campaign activities, whether they are carrying the child in their lap or in the vehicle or taking the child to rallies.

Children will not be seen in poems, songs, spoken words, symbols of political parties or candidates.

The ban also applies to the use of children for political campaigning in any form, including poetry, songs, spoken words, display of political party or candidate symbols, the commission said in a statement.

There is no restriction on the presence of the child in this form

The Commission said that but if a leader who is not involved in the election campaign activity of any political party and a child is present near him along with his parents or guardian, then in this situation it will not be considered a violation of the guidelines. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar has consistently emphasized the important role of political parties as key stakeholders of the Election Commission. He has especially urged them to become active participants in maintaining democratic values ​​in view of the upcoming parliamentary elections.
