Police are unable to find the network of brown sugar suppliers in the capital Ranchi.

Ranchi: The capital police conducts raids on information regarding buying and selling of brown sugar, but is unable to find out the entire network of this business. As a result, whenever the police arrests a youth or a gang involved in this business and sends him to jail, the suppliers of brown sugar set up another network.

Because the supplier network has not collapsed, the brown sugar business is flourishing in various police station areas of the capital. Here, the police files the chargesheet in the case only after sending the arrested accused to jail. Police took action against brown sugar suppliers in various areas of the capital like Sukhdevnagar and Argora police station area. On January 11, Argora police had arrested a large network of sellers of brown sugar. In which, the accused had confessed that they also bring and sell brown sugar from Jamshedpur and Kolkata. But, the police did not find out about the active network here. In this case, the police investigation was limited to Chatra’s network only.

Case Study- 01

11 January 2024 : Argora police station had arrested Ravikant with 25 packets of brown sugar near Ashok Nagar Gate No. 4. He took the names of Shishupala, Hrithik Tigga and Asim. After this the police arrested Hrithik Tigga with 34 packets of brown sugar. On Hrithik’s statement, Shishupal was arrested and 43 bags of brown sugar were recovered from him. Shishupal told the name of Adarsh ​​Kumar Singh, resident of Mayurhand, Chatra. Shishupala used to buy brown sugar from Adarsh ​​at the rate of Rs 100 per packet. The accused had also told that they used to bring brown sugar from Jamshedpur and Kolkata and sell it in Ranchi. In this case, after finding out about Chatra’s network, the police registered a case against Adarsh. Whereas, no person involved in the network of Jamshedpur and Kolkata was neither investigated nor made an accused.

Case Study- 02

04 January 2024 : Argora police station had arrested four accused – Tauheed Ansari, Anup Kumar, Mo Ali and Aalishaan Siddiqui for selling brown sugar and black stone. Police had recovered 21 bags of brown sugar from the accused. Based on the statements of these accused, the police had also named Gabbar and Shishupal as accused in the case. Because the accused named in this case used to take brown sugar from Gabbar Shishupal and supply it to the accused. But the police could not find out about the entire network.

Case Study- 03

30 November 2023 : Sukhdevnagar police conducted a raid near Vidyanagar bridge and arrested Pradeep Yadav alias Lagada, Admin Soy, Gaurav Kumar, Abhishek Jha, Durga Das, Roshan Kumar and Arun Kumar on charges of selling brown sugar and ganja. Police had recovered 52 bags of brown sugar and ganja from the accused. The police had also made Kanhai Yadav an accused in this case. But, on the basis of the statements of the accused and investigation into the case, the police did not find out about the syndicate or network of brown sugar supply nor did they register a case against them.
