On Saturday morning, PM Narendra Modi flew in Tejas aircraft at the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited site in Bengaluru, Karnataka. After this, PM Modi shared some pictures on social media and wrote:
PM Modi wrote on the social media platform Heartiest congratulations to the Indian Air Force, DRDO and HAL as well as all Indians.
Let us tell you that PM Modi was scheduled to review and visit the manufacturing facility of HAL, which also included the Tejas jet facility. The Indian Air Force has recently issued a tender to state-owned HAL for the purchase of 12 advanced Su-30MKI fighter aircraft.
ANI had earlier quoted defense sources as saying, “Recently, a tender has been issued to HAL to procure 12 Su-30MKI fighter aircraft, to be manufactured by HAL in India in partnership with Russian Original Equipment Manufacturers Will go.”
He said the public sector company is expected to respond to the tender with details of the project along with other details by next month.
The Prime Minister has been emphasizing on indigenous production of defense products and has highlighted how his government has promoted their manufacturing in India and their exports.
Several countries have shown interest in purchasing the Tejas light combat aircraft and US defense giant GE Aerospace had signed an agreement with HAL to jointly manufacture engines for the Mk-II-Tejas during the Prime Minister’s visit to the US.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh had said in April that India’s defense exports have reached an all-time high of ₹15,920 crore in the financial year 2022-2023. He had said that this is a remarkable achievement for the country.
