Ashwin Krishna Pratipada will be offered to the ancestors with sesame seeds and barley from 30th September. According to the horoscope, there will be peace of Pitra Dosh, blessings of ancestors, and for the satisfaction of ancestors, they will be offered tarpan and pindadan to the Brahmins and food will be served to the ancestors. This time, with the completion of all the dates in Pitru Paksha, you will get full 15 days to seek the blessings of your ancestors. It is believed that when ancestors are offered water and sesame seeds during Pitru Paksha, their souls are satisfied.
Tarpan will be offered to three ancestors
Acharya Rakesh Jha, an expert in rituals, said quoting the Vedic ritual system that on the paternal side, father is the grandfather, great-grandmother, and on the maternal side, the mother is the maternal grandfather, great-grandmother, and besides, on the maternal side, the maternal grandfather is the maternal grandfather, the great-grandfather, the old great-grandfather, and on the maternal side, the great-grandmother is the great-grandfather, the great-grandson is the great-grandfather. Along with this, offerings will be made to all the other deceased relatives by taking their Gotra and name.
With dedication, tarpan will liberate one from ancestral debt.
According to Pandit Jha, Shraddha is called the Yagya of ancestors. Three debts have been mentioned in the scriptures – debt to ancestors, debt to God and debt to Guru. These three loans are of great importance. In the human world, a father hands over everything to his son or daughter at the time of his death. Therefore the child owes debt to his father. During Pitru Paksha one should pay homage to one’s ancestors. During Pitru Paksha, tarpan should be done with water and sesame seeds. The ancestors get satisfaction from the Shraddha rituals and donations made during this period.

Now you must be wondering why your ancestors will be happy only on a particular date. So let us tell you that when a person dies, the date of that day becomes important. How to perform Shraddha in Pitru Paksha?
If you do not know the date of your ancestors, then you can perform Tarpan, Shraddha etc. for your ancestors on the Amavasya of Pitru Paksha i.e. Ashwin Amavasya. It is known as Sarvapitri Amavasya. On this day, there is a tradition of offering Pind Daan to all the known and unknown ancestors.
