Due to this, the Baralota water supply scheme has come to a complete standstill. On Tuesday, water supply could not be achieved in the feeder area of ​​this water supply scheme. In the morning, when water supply was started in the nutrient area from the water tower located at Chianki, water was flowing near the mountain. The operator immediately informed PHED and the corporation administration. The team reached there in the light of the instructions of Municipal Commissioner of the Corporation Mohammad Javed Hussain. Here, on the instructions of PHED’s Assistant Engineer, Pipeline Inspector Sanjay Gupta of the department also arrived. During inspection, the team found that the main pipe for drinking water distribution has been damaged during the bypass road construction work.

Corporation’s city manager Dilip Kumar and pipeline inspector Chhotalal Gupta informed the city commissioner about the entire situation. He told that the pipe was damaged during the bypass road construction work. Bharat Vanijya Eastern Limited Company, which was carrying out road construction work, was found guilty in this case. The Municipal Commissioner said that the company should have contacted PHED or the corporation administration before starting the construction work on the roadside. The Municipal Commissioner issued a notice to the said company and directed to get the damaged water supply distribution pipe repaired without any delay. The Municipal Commissioner clearly said that if the pipe is not repaired properly and with strength, then action will be taken against the said company, because the pipe has been damaged due to the negligence of the company.

Water supply will remain closed for about a week

After inspection of the damaged water supply pipe, the technical team of the Municipal Corporation said that the water supply will be affected for about a week. The water supply main distribution pipe is of 15 inches diameter, which is damaged at many places. Instead of welding the pipe, it would be better to replace it, because welding the damaged pipe will continue to cause leakage problems. Therefore, it has been suggested to the corporation administration to take appropriate decision and take action towards replacing the pipe.

50 thousand population will be affected

Due to damage to the main distribution pipe of Baralota Water Supply Scheme, a population of about 50 thousand in urban and rural areas has been affected. Through this water supply scheme, drinking water is supplied in Medininagar urban and rural areas. Water supply is provided to nine wards of Redma, Baralota, GLA College Road, Pokhara in the urban area, while water supply is provided to all the villages of Chiyanki, Jamune, Rajwadih and Jod Panchayat of Sadar block.
