To enhance the beauty of Delhi’s roads before the G20 summit, Delhi Forest Department has planted about 2.5 lakh flower pots. Environment Minister Gopal Rai gave this information on Wednesday. Addressing a press conference, Environment Minister Gopal Rai said that more than 300 officers and employees of the Forest Department will ensure the maintenance of these pots.

Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister P.K. Mishra on Wednesday chaired the ninth meeting of the G-20 Coordination Committee to review the preparations for the upcoming summit of the group. After the meeting, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said in a statement that for the first time a mobile app (G-20 India) has been launched for the G-20 and is now available for download on both Android and iOS.

The PMO said that the G-20 delegates and members of the media will witness Digital India firsthand through the ‘Innovation Hub’ and ‘Digital India Experiential Hub’, which are being built at the Bharat Mandapam. It was noted in the meeting that the progress of ground work at Bharat Mandapam, which hosts some of the major G-20 meetings, is satisfactory.

Media arrangements for the summit were also reviewed. The statement said that more than 3,600 requests have been received so far, including requests from foreign media, and permission letters are being issued. The Principal Secretary was also briefed about the security aspects.

For smooth coordination between various agencies, it was decided that a multi-agency control room would be set up at the Bharat Mandapam. The statement said that Mishra will visit the area and the site in the next few days to take stock of the status of preparations at the ground level. The meeting was attended by senior officials of the G-20 Secretariat and the Ministries of External Affairs, Home, Culture, Information and Broadcasting and Department of Telecommunications.
