On the occasion of Vijayadashami, the festival of victory of good over evil, Ramlila Mahotsav and Ravana Dahan program were organized at the historic Gandhi Maidan in Patna.
This program of killing Ravana was formally inaugurated by Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar by lighting the lamp.
In this Ravana Dahan program organized by Sri Sri Dussehra Committee Trust, the organizers first welcomed Chief Minister Nitish Kumar by presenting him a memento. After this, the Chief Minister released the balloon and gave the message of maintaining peace and harmony in the state.
Here the Chief Minister performed aarti by applying tilak on the form of Shri Ram and Shri Laxman. After this the program formally started. First Lanka was burnt and then the effigies of Kumbhkaran, Meghnad and Ravana, symbols of evil, were burnt one by one.
As soon as the effigy of Ravana was burnt, people from Patna and surrounding areas raised slogans of Jai Shri Ram. The crowd of people was so much that the entire area echoed with the name of Jai Shri Ram.
Before Ravana Dahan, the Shobha Yatra reached Gandhi Maidan via various routes of Patna. Here people welcomed him grandly with cheers.
Extensive arrangements were made by the police administration for the expected crowd of people in this program of killing Ravana. Magistrates and police forces were deployed at every gate. Besides, surveillance was also being done through CCTV.
RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, Finance Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Environment Forest and Climate Change Minister Tej Pratap Yadav and other leaders, members of Sri Sri Dussehra Committee Trust and other dignitaries were present in this program.
