After the accident, the driver left the truck and ran away. Many people remained trapped under the truck for a long time. When the police arrived after receiving the information, people created a ruckus.
After much difficulty, the people trapped in the truck were rescued. Many people were seriously injured and have been admitted to a nearby hospital.
It is being told that four of the injured people were about to play drums during puja. These people had come to Kitadih Durga Puja to play Dhak. The accident occurred during the immersion of the idol of Jugsalai Naya Bazaar. The good thing was that there was not much luggage loaded on the truck. Otherwise a big accident could have happened.
