Paika dance and welcome with 50 drums

Chief guest Shibu Soren and CM Hemant Soren were welcomed by Paika dance groups in the festival. After this, both the guests were welcomed with 50 drums. Both inaugurated the ceremony by cutting the ribbon. Shibu Soren and Hemant Soren inspected all the stalls at the venue. Also inquired about the stall of tribal cuisine.

Presentation of Bastar Band: Lingo Dev glorified

Bastar Band’s performance was an amalgamation of sound, music and traditional rituals of Bastar (Chhattisgarh). Lingo Dev (whom people consider to be a music guru) of the tribal tradition was glorified. The style of the song was working to enthuse the youth. In ‘Lingo Pata’ or Lingo Pen i.e. song cum saga of Lingo Dev, various musical instruments prepared by him have been described. A 20-member troupe (in which the participation of men and women was equal) presented with different instruments.

People dance a lot on the manly chandelier of Padma Shri Mukund Nayak

Kunjban, the folk dance troupe of Padmashree Mukund Nayak enthralled the cultural evening. The artists reached the stage swinging on Mandar, Nagada and Turturi. The first presentation Ae Re More Jharkhand Le Lan Johar Le… enthused the people. On the other hand, Bhagwan Birsa Munda’s invocation song Aaju Sapna More Kahlain Birsa Dada… recalled the saga of Ulgulan. The artistes mesmerized with their performance in mardaani jhoomar style.

Story of clay man in Seraikela Chhau

Tapan Patnaik’s team shared the story of a clay man wearing a small mask in Seraikela Chhau style. Earthen humans who were presenting the rasadhara of life between mother, soil, man and the forest. Artists wearing colorful masks dance to the beat of Mandar in the hope of a good harvest. Rajesh Baraik’s team enthralled the audience by playing drums and flute.

Presentation of tribal dances from all over the country on one stage

Tribal folk dances of different states of the country were performed on the stage at short intervals to introduce people to the tribal culture and civilization of the country. Seekers from Koya tribe of Andhra Pradesh reached for the first presentation of folk dance. Introduced the Komkoya dance to the beat of the drum. In the dance, the artists presented the air in the dance style when the train moves. After this, the people of Parajo tribe of Odisha presented ‘Baroja’ folk dance on the tune of flute, a star, Khadtal. With peacock feathers in their hands, in yellow clothes, with red flowers in their hair, the dedication of women’s footsteps and expressions was visible. The people of Rajasthan’s Garasia tribe introduced the presentation of ‘Valar’ dance. On the other hand, the people of Paliyan tribe from Idukki district of Kerala presented the dance ‘Paniya (Paniyar)’ dedicated to the presiding deity Mariyamma. The traditional instruments of the artists involved in the folk dance along with Tilgbandi and brightly colored costumes looked attractive.
