Two days after the resignation of Hemant Soren, Jharkhand finally got a new Chief Minister. Champai Soren took the oath of office and secrecy on Friday (February 2). Governor CP Radhakrishnan administered him the oath at Raj Bhavan.

Along with Champai Soren, two ministers also took oath. Those who took oath with him included Congress leader Alamgir Alam and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MLA Satyanand Bhokta. The portfolios have not been allotted to the ministers yet.

This is how the Governor congratulated Champai Soren

After administering the oath to the Chief Minister and two ministers at the Raj Bhavan, Jharkhand Governor CP Radhakrishnan said that it is the responsibility of every government to ensure that the poor of the state get the benefits of the government schemes.

The Governor also presented a bouquet to the new Chief Minister Champai Soren. Champai of Hemant Soren’s resignation had staked claim to form the government on the night of 31 January itself. On the other hand, the Congress leader was continuously accusing the Governor of deliberately delaying the swearing-in ceremony.

Champai Soren had also written a letter to the Governor on 1 February. Went to Raj Bhavan at 5.30 in the evening and met His Majesty and requested him to invite him for the oath taking ceremony as soon as possible. The Governor had said that he would tell in the morning.

Late in the night of 1 February, the Governor sent an invitation to Champai Soren, leader of the Grand Alliance (Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal) in Jharkhand, to take oath on 2 February. After this it was decided that Champai Soren would take oath as Chief Minister on February 2 at 12:15 pm.

On Friday morning, Champai Soren took the blessings of Dishom Guru Shibu Soren and then went to Raj Bhavan to take oath. The Governor administered him the oath of office and secrecy at Raj Bhavan. With this, the doubt that has persisted for two days over the new government in Jharkhand will end.

Many MLAs and ministers also attended the swearing-in ceremony of Champai Soren. JMM’s Rajya Sabha MP Mahua Maji and CPI(ML) MLA Vinod Singh were also included in this. Supriyo Bhattacharya had also reached the Durbar Hall.

Champai Soren paid tribute to Sido-Kanhu and Lord Birsa Munda

After taking the oath of office and secrecy at the Raj Bhavan, the new Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Champai Soren, went to the Sido-Kanhu Park and paid tribute to the tribal heroes Sido-Kanhu, who defeated the British. Alamgir Alam and Satyanand Bhokta were also with him. The new government also paid tribute to Lord Birsa Munda at Birsa Munda Chowk.
