Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday said 180 people, including 40 students with hearing and speech impairments, were evacuated after heavy rains led to flooding in several parts of Nagpur city. The Deputy Chief Minister said that the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) are evacuating people safely from the flood affected areas. He said that two units of the army are reaching Ambazari area. A lake is in spate here.

Torrential rain started in the city from Friday midnight. The Meteorological Department said that 106 mm of rain was recorded at Nagpur Airport till 5.30 am. Officials said that due to heavy rains, many roads and residential areas were submerged, due to which the administration has declared holiday in schools and colleges as a precautionary measure.
