Phone Ghumao Abhiyan: Now UPPCL boss will urge consumers to recover electricity dues

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) on Friday launched a state-wide campaign to telephonically contact and ask consumers to pay their electricity dues. Along with this, an initiative has been started to detect and dispose of consumer complaints expeditiously.

According to Ashish Kumar Goyal, Chairman, Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL), this campaign is aimed at establishing better connectivity between the personnel of Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited and the consumers and to recover the full cost of electricity supplied to the consumers. Will continue uninterrupted till September. “Chairman, Managing Director and Director of UPPCL and Managing Director of Discoms will contact 10 power users on phone every day during the drive,” said Goyal. Will call 15 consumers, Chief Engineer, SDO and JE will call 30 consumers each.”

Meanwhile, the UP Electricity Regulatory Commission (UPERC) has issued a notice to UPPCL asking it to respond to complaints regarding changes in tariff schedules in several cities. This action has been taken after the complaint of the Chairman of the Commission Awadhesh Kumar Verma that in many districts the urban tariff is being charged from the consumers under the rural schedule on the plea that they are getting more electricity. Verma said that the tariff schedule cannot be changed merely by increasing the hours of supply. The Commission has asked UPPCL to reply within 10 days.

7502 people in UP have outstanding bills of electricity department worth Rs 1925 crore

Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited is running at a loss of one lakh crore. There are 7502 electricity consumers in the state, each of whom has an outstanding electricity bill of Rs 10 lakh or more. Electricity bill of Rs 1924.79 crore has not been paid. The chairman of Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited himself and the MD of the power companies have taken it upon themselves. These top officials of the management will talk to such consumers. Before starting the campaign, the corporation has prepared a list of all the big defaulters. In which there are details of consumers with arrears of 10-50 thousand, 50 thousand to one lakh, one lakh to 10 lakh and more than ten lakh. 7502 consumers have outstanding of more than Rs 10 lakh.

10 to 50 thousand rupees on 7123771 consumer, 1185875 consumer has outstanding bill from 50 thousand to one lakh rupees. There are 816655 consumers who have to pay electricity bills up to 10 lakhs.
