People took to the streets after the sacrificial ritual was stopped in Darbhanga’s Shyama Temple, burnt the effigy of the Chairman of Bihar Trust Board.

Darbhanga. The Hindu community of Shakta sect has protested after the order to ban the practice of sacrifice in the famous Rameshwari Shyama temple of Darbhanga. From the streets to social sites, people are protesting against this decision of the religious trust. Under the banner of Madhaveshwar Parisar Bachao Sangharsh Samiti, the effigy of Bihar State Religious Trust Board President Akhilesh Kumar Jain was burnt on Friday. Besides, a decision has also been taken to meet the District Magistrate of Darbhanga and request him to withdraw this order.

In this regard, committee chairman Ranganath Thakur said that tampering with the worship tradition that has been going on for thousands of years in the Madhaveshwar complex is a violation of religious freedom. The tradition of offering sacrifices has been going on in Rameshwari Shyama Temple since its inception. Addressing this program, Vishva Hindu Parishad’s co-district minister Rajeev Prakash “Madhukar” said that we believe in Sanatani “Mahajano Yen Gat: Sapantha” and under this, there is a practice of offering sacrifices here, in which there is no tampering by the trustee board. There is an attack on Sanatan, which we common people will not tolerate at all. The Trust Board should withdraw this Tughlaqi decree, otherwise the movement will be fierce. He said that this decision will have to be withdrawn soon.

BJP District Vice President Aditya Narayan “Manna” said that our culture is our heritage and this order is an attack on our culture and the ritual of sacrifice is also included in the Tantrok method of Kalika Puja, for this the Chairman of the Trust Board is requested to stop this order. BJP District Vice President Sujit Mallik said that this decision of Trust Board Chairman Akhilesh Kumar Jain is going to hurt public sentiments. He said that keeping in mind the interest of tradition, the local members of Maa Shyama Trust Board, Darbhanga should also send a letter to Bihar State Trust Board to cancel this order. BJP State General Secretary BJP Mahila Morcha Meena Jha said that the tradition of worship using Tantrok method is being followed in hundreds of temples of India and which is mentioned in many religious texts including Durga Saptashati, this decision of the Chairman of the Trust Board is an attack on our culture.

Here, differences of opinion have arisen regarding this decision within the Maa Shyama Temple Trust Committee itself. The two vice-chairmen of the committee are blaming each other for this decision. Kamal Kant Jha, vice-president of the temple committee, has termed this decision as wrong and has written a letter to the Bihar Religious Trust Board informing that he has never demanded or given consent for such a decision. Accusing Jaishankar Jha, the second vice-chairman of the committee, he has said that the new people who have come to the committee are hurting the religious faith and sentiments of the devotees by taking such demands and decisions. No response has been issued by the Temple Committee on the Vice President’s letter.
