People of Jharkhand spilled a lot of liquor, till December people drank liquor worth Rs. 3082 crores.

In Jharkhand, during the financial year 2023-24, the people of the state drank liquor worth Rs 3082 crore till December. The highest sale of liquor worth Rs 384 crore took place in December. According to the report prepared by the Excise Department, till December 31, the government has received revenue of Rs 1638 crore from liquor. A total revenue target of Rs 2350 crore has been set from liquor in this financial year. In such a situation, the revenue target will be achieved if revenue of Rs 712 crore is received by 31st March. At the same time, revenue of Rs 237 crore will be required per month for the next three months. According to the department, the prescribed revenue will be earned from liquor in this financial year. At present the responsibility of retail liquor sale in the state has been given to different placement agencies. Liquor is provided to the placement agency by JSBCL.

Liquor worth Rs 498 crore sold in Ranchi till December

More liquor has been sold in Ranchi in the current financial year as compared to the previous financial year. In the financial year 2023-24, liquor worth Rs 70,49,75,270 was sold in December alone. Liquor worth Rs 62,07,98,850 was sold in December last year. Compared to last year, this year liquor worth more than Rs 8 crore has been sold. Liquor worth Rs 498 crore has been sold so far in Ranchi in the year 2023-24. Whereas in the last financial year till December, liquor worth Rs 414 crore was sold. Currently, liquor worth Rs 84 crore more has been sold as compared to the last financial year. There has been a record sale of liquor in Ranchi in the current financial year.

Ranchi people drank liquor worth Rs 9 crore on New Year

The people of Ranchi drank liquor worth more than Rs 9 crore on the occasion of New Year on 31st December and 1st January. Liquor worth Rs 4.44 crore was sold in Ranchi on December 31 and Rs 4.45 crore on January 1. The highest sales of liquor have taken place in the capital of Jharkhand in December this year.

Demand to give responsibility of sale of liquor to state traders

General Secretary of Jharkhand Liquor Traders Association, Subodh Kumar Jaiswal said that the government should give the responsibility of retail liquor sale to the liquor traders of the state. Liquor traders had assured to give revenue of Rs 3500 crore. He has said that the revenue received from liquor sale is less. The state can earn more revenue from this. He has also demanded changes in the product policy.
