Palamu, Saikat Chatterjee: Three festivals each were celebrated in Medininagar of Palamu district on Thursday (April 11). While the Muslim community celebrated the festival of Eid, the tribals celebrated Sarhul festival. Between these two festivals, married women and unmarried girls of Marwari community participated in Gangaur Puja.
Gangaur Puja was organized under the aegis of Marwari Yuva Manch and Prerna Shakha at Ganpati Dharamshala in Medininagar city. Married women perform Gangaur Puja for the long life of their husbands, while unmarried girls observe this fast to wish for a good groom.
Eid prayers were offered in many mosques including Jama Masjid, Chhoti Masjid, Noori Masjid of Daltenganj city. During this period, maximum crowd was seen in Jama Masjid.
Children were very excited in mosques and Eidgahs. As soon as the prayers in the mosques ended, children ran out and hugged each other. Congratulated on Eid.
The elders hugged the youth and children and congratulated them on Eid. Also gave Eid to the children. A large crowd of people offering namaz was seen in the big mosque.

A family was seen in the Badi Masjid dressed in the same colour. The color of the clothes of the elderly, youth and children was the same. All the devotees coming here got their picture clicked with this family.
Special arrangements were made for disabled worshipers in all Eidgahs. There was provision of chairs for the disabled and the elderly. These people offered namaz sitting on chairs.
Sarhul was celebrated with great enthusiasm in the Akhara located at GLA College. Pahan got the puja done as per customs. Devotees observing fast participated in the puja rituals.

During the event, former chairman of the puja committee, Prof. Kailash Oraon highlighted the importance of Sarhul. After the puja, people danced vigorously on Sarhul song. Girls from different tribal hostels participated in the dance.
Women dressed in traditional attire were the center of attraction during Sarhul Puja. Apart from GLA College Akhara, Sarhul was also organized in Chiyanki, Chainpur. Sarhul’s procession passed through the main roads of the city.
