Patna’s new ISBT did not get better approach road even after seven months of inauguration, know how many buses are operating

Amar Yadav, Patna. The new bus stand built in Phulwarisharif has been ready for the last 7 months but till now it has not been possible to operate all the buses from there. Currently, only 25 e-buses are operated, charged and maintained from the new complex. Whereas there is a plan to operate around 350 buses from Bankipur bus stand from here. It has also been prepared accordingly.

It was inaugurated in May 2023

The new transport complex is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for the convenience of passengers and keeping in mind the traffic congestion. Let us tell you that it was inaugurated in May 2023. An investment of Rs 164.31 crore has been made to organize all the offices of the Transport Corporation at one place. 12 buildings have been built at one place in 21.19 acres of land. At present, the headquarters of Bihar State Road Transport Corporation operates here along with the District Transport Office.

Difficulty in shifting due to approach road not being good

To reach the new transport complex, there are two roads from Jagdev Path. The Transport Department official said that the width of both the roads is so less that it is not possible to operate more than 300 buses daily from there. Regarding the new bus stand, he said that the service can be started from here anytime, the stand is completely ready for use. Connectivity to the bus stand will have to be improved. According to the information, the road coming from Jagdev Path is only 25 to 30 feet wide and is not capable of bearing heavy vehicles.

There is facility for charging electric buses here

There is a central workshop in the new transport complex. It mainly has facilities for maintenance, cleaning and servicing of buses. Along with this, there are many facilities including parking bay, 6 electric vehicle charging points, CNG pumping station. The bus terminal building also has basic facilities like ticketing counter, LCD screen, digital signage, cafeteria, drinking water, CCTV, public address system and toilets.
