Patna Metro: Tender issued for five elevated stations of Priority Corridor, know when will it be ready?

Five elevated stations of Priority Corridor of Patna Metro will be ready in two years. The search for an agency has started for the five stations from Malahi Pakri to New ISBT of Kankarbagh, from the design to building construction, water supply, drainage and other facilities. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has issued a tender for this. According to the information, pre-bid meeting for the tender has been organized on September 5. The work of submitting tenders will start from Monday, which will continue till September 25. The tender will be opened on 26th September this month. After acceptance of the tender and work order, a target has been set to complete the work in two years.

Five stations in Priority Corridor

There are five stations in the priority corridor of Corridor 2 (Patna Station to New ISBT) of Patna Metro. These include Malahi Pakdi, Khemnichak, Bhootnath, Zero Mile and New ISBT metro stations. All these stations are elevated. The construction and development of these stations is estimated to cost around Rs 75 crore.

The selected agency will have to do this work

The agency winning the tender will carry out design, architecture and construction of pre-engineering structures at the metro stations prepared by DMRC. Along with this, the selected agency will also have to develop other facilities including outer covering of the station, water supply, toilets, drainage.

Tender for purchase of track in New ISBT Depot

Apart from this, DMRC has also issued a tender for the purchase of metro track to be laid in the New ISBT Depot of Patna Metro. A cost of around Rs 9 crore has been given for 1200 metric tonne iron track. After acceptance of the tender, a target has been set to complete the track laying work in one year. Here, special type of tracks are to be laid under the Mass Rapid Transit System.

Interchange station will be built in Khemnichak of Priority Corridor

An interchange station is proposed on the Priority Corridor of Patna Metro which will be elevated at Khemnichak. At interchange stations, passengers will be able to easily change the metro from one line to another without coming out. These are also connected to bus and railway terminals. Apart from pedestrian subway, foot over bridge, proper traffic facilities will be available for pedestrians at interchange stations. Parking will also be marked with pick-drop arrangements.

Two new machines will dig tunnel till Patna station

Along with the elevated corridor of Patna Metro, there are preparations to complete the work on the underground route also. For this, two new Tunnel Boring Machines (TBM) will be installed, which will dig the metro tunnel from Gandhi Maidan to Patna station via Akashvani. Before this, station boxes are being constructed near Gandhi Maidan and Patna station. TBM will be lowered for tunnel digging in this station box. This work is likely to start from the month of November. At present, the metro tunnel is being excavated between Moinul Haq Stadium and Patna University in Corridor-2. For this, two Tunnel Boring Machines (TBM) have been installed.

Excavation of about 37 km in up-down including both corridors

It is known that about 37 km of excavation has to be done in both the corridors together, for which ten TBMs will be required. About 10.50 km underground tunnel is to be built in corridor one of the metro while eight km underground tunnel is to be built in corridor two.

Process of launching U-girder on Corridor One started

Before this, the process of launching U-girder on the elevated route of Patna Junction via Corridor One of Patna Metro Project i.e. from Danapur to Bailey Road has started. The first 170 tonne pre-cast and 28 meter long viaduct U girder of this section was launched on National Engineer’s Day on Friday. This feat was achieved on pillar number 133-134 in the viaduct located between RPS Mod station and Patliputra metro station. U girder is pre-cast in casting yard. After this, with the help of a crane it is launched between two pier caps. The process of laying metro track will be done on this.
