Patna Metro Rail: 36 km underground journey, know big update about fare-route plan and date of inauguration

Patna Metro Rail: In Corridor 2 of Patna Metro, two metro lines will be ready for the 18 km long underground route from Patliputra ISBT to Patna Junction route. For this, TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) will excavate a total of 36 km (18 km in two lanes) from Patna Junction to Malahi Pakdi before adding cutter cover. Rest of the work from Malahi Pakdi to Pataliputra bus stand will be elevated. DMRC Director (Works) Daljit Singh, who arrived at the inauguration of tunnel excavation, told that the tunnel boring machine launched in Patna runs on earth pressure balance. Initially it will run a bit slow. But, when this work will reach its peak in 15-20 days, it will cover an average distance of 10-15 meters daily. After covering a distance of one km and 400 meters, it will reach the university. At an interval of one month, the second TBM will also start running from Moinul Haq Stadium and will reach the other end in a month. When both the TBMs leave the university, then they will be launched again from the other end to Gandhi Maidan. This TBM will not be taken out in PMCH.

Tunnel work will be completed in four years and stations in five years

On the question of completion of Patna Metro work, Director Work said that it takes seven to eight years to complete metro work in big countries of the world. But, being a developing country, we want to achieve our goals as soon as possible. We will complete the tunnel in four years and the station in five years. It also takes a lot of time to prepare and integrate air conditioning, signalling, track, traction and automatic fare collection gate etc. for the Metro. However, no official update has been given regarding the fare in metros.

Both TBMs will come out in Gandhi Madan

Both the TBMs will go through the drag through to Gandhi Maidan. Then the excavation will start at the other end of this station. In this way both TBMs will complete their work. Two more TBMs are in this package. One will start from Gandhi Maidan and end before Patna Junction. After this, the excavation work will start at the other end of Moinul Haq station and before Malahi Pakdi, the cutter will come out in the cover tunnel.
