Patna College: Patna College has completed 161 years. Many great personalities have studied from this college. At the same time, the Legislative Council session also sometimes takes place in the campus of this college. The establishment of this college was completed on 9th January in the year 1863. At the same time, in the year 1971, the film Seemabandh was shot here. Till 1857, the Collectorate of Patna was also located in this college. Former President of the country Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was here on the occasion of completion of 100 years of Patna College. He was the chief guest of the program. The former President himself had said that this college has produced great people. Many great people have studied from here and have contributed to big positions in the country. It is said that the campus of this college had laid the foundation of democracy in Bihar. Bengal was separated from Bihar and after this the session of Bihar Legislative Council used to be held in the college campus. Students used to study degree in Patna College only. This was the only college from where students could study for a degree.
Patna College is the oldest college of Bihar
Patna College is one of the oldest colleges in the country. This is the fifth oldest college in the country. At the same time, this is the oldest college in Bihar. The specialty of Patna College is that it is situated on the banks of Ganga. Its history is glorious. From 1912 to 1936, the session of the Legislative Council used to be held in this college. This college has also played a special role in making Shri Krishna Singh the first Chief Minister of Bihar. Apart from this, people like Jai Prakash Narayan, national poet Ramdhari Singh Dinkar, Sir Sultan Ahmed, Dr. Sachidanand Ahmed, Sachidanand Sinha etc. have had a special association with this college. This college was built with the help of British Indians. In the year 1858, a district school was built in place of the high school. Actually, the name of the high school was changed to district school. It got the status of college in the year 1863. At the same time, after independence, in the year 1852, this college was named Patna College. Patna College got the status of college in 1863. After this, college level education started taking place in it from 1867. Once upon a time, it was the most prestigious institute in Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and even Nepal.
