Patna AIIMS’s drone will now fly at a speed of 120 km, has the ability to send medicines up to a radius of 200 km in case of disaster and flood.

Anand Tiwari, Patna. Patna AIIMS, which is included in the drone project of the Central Government, will be able to deliver life-saving materials even at a distance of 200 kilometers. AIIMS administration has started preparing to expand the scope of this scheme started by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. With the help of drones, AIIMS will also provide medicines and essential materials to the people trapped in disasters and floods.

The drone was launched by Patna AIIMS

According to experts, AIIMS will use Vertiplane X-3 drone model for this facility. For this, the National Health System Resource Center (NHSRC) will provide technical support. It is being told that it will cover a distance of about 200 km in one flight at 100 to 120 km per hour. Let us tell you here that recently the drone was launched by Patna AIIMS, whose successful trial has also been done under the supervision of AIIMS Director Dr. GK Pal.

Drones will be helpful during floods

AIIMS Director Dr. GK Pal said that preparations for the trial of drones will be started outside AIIMS. Because during the rainy season, rivers swell in the districts and large areas adjacent to Patna. Thousands of villages drown in floods. They are cut off from main and connecting routes. In such a situation, drones will be most suitable in delivering medicines to the village.

Drone range from 50 to 200 km

The drone has the capability to deliver medicines within a range of 50 to 200 km. If needed, help will also be taken from nearby district hospitals and medical college hospitals. Drone pads will be made at designated places, where the drone can easily take off and land. With its help, emergency medicine and vaccine can be sent within a radius of 50 to 200 km.

This is the specialty of drone

The drone manufacturing company operating in AIIMS was established in July 2015 and was started in the hostel garage of IIT Kanpur. In 2018, it partnered with a Lucknow-based food delivery startup to deliver the world’s first tea via drone.

Drones have two propulsion systems

Vertiplane X3 is the fastest made-in-India hybrid e-VTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing) drone. The drone has two propulsion systems, one for vertical motion and the other for forward motion. Has a load carrying capacity of about 15 kg. The price of the drone is around Rs 10 lakh.
