Medininagar, Sanjay Kumar: Small and big vehicles ply at the New Bus Stand located at Palamu Club near Koel River in the city. Due to the Michong cyclone, the rains of the last two days have created a hellish situation. The bus stand was turned into mud as it was unpaved. Due to this, passengers have to face a lot of trouble in getting in and out of the vehicle. There is also a severe lack of shed and toilet in the stand. Due to lack of toilets, women are forced to go to the toilet at the back of the bus. There is no water facility either. Last five years ago, the Road Construction Department had constructed a labor shed at a cost of about Rs 15 lakh, but within 10-15 days of its construction, its roof was blown away. Never got it repaired since then. Operated as a mini bus stand. The corporation collects tax daily from small and big vehicles, handcarts and kiosks that stop at the bus stand site. But the corporation has not provided any facility. Even in light rain, mud forms, causing problems to the passengers as well as the bus operators. Bus operators said that every day the corporation takes 30 buses and 20 from small vehicles. But no facility has been provided. Hundreds of small and big vehicles and autos ply from the said bus stand. Buses ply from the stand for Garhwa, Ramkanda, Ramgarh, Chhattisgarh, Vanshidhar Nagar and other places.
There is severe lack of facilities: Ward Councilor
Ward councilor Manoj Kumar Singh said that after the construction of the bus stand, no facilities have been restored. Women especially face more problems due to lack of toilets. The corporation should pay attention to this.
DPR is being prepared: Municipal Commissioner
Municipal Commissioner of the Corporation Javed Hussain said that whatever shortcomings will be removed. Preparations are being made for construction of toilet and shed in the bus stand. The facility will be restored soon, so that passengers can get relief from troubles.
