Pakistan: Troubles increase for Imran Khan, case filed for murder of Supreme Court lawyer

Pakistan: Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan has been booked under the Anti-Terrorism Act in connection with the murder of a Supreme Court lawyer. His party informed about this. Lawyer Abdul Razzaq Shar was shot dead on Tuesday by unknown assailants in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan province, when he was on his way to the provincial high court. Shar’s son Siraj Ahmed lodged an FIR on Tuesday alleging that his father was killed at the behest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party chairman Khan.

PTI party confirmed

The PTI party confirmed in a WhatsApp message that 70-year-old Khan was named in the FIR lodged at Shaheed Jameel Kakar police station in the city. According to the copy of the FIR shared by the party, the complainant told the police that his father had filed a case against Khan and he was receiving threats. He said, I have named Imran Khan in the FIR because my father was being threatened at his behest. Shar had filed a constitutional petition against Khan and former deputy speaker Qasim Suri in the Balochistan High Court for proceedings under Article 6, which pertains to high treason, for illegally dissolving the National Assembly in April 2022. At that time, the joint opposition had presented a no-confidence motion against the PTI government.

Home Minister Rana Sanaullah accused of conspiring to murder

Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s aide Attaullah Tarar had alleged that Shar was killed at Khan’s behest to escape accountability in a treason case. PTI spokesman Rauf Hasan rejected the claim, instead accusing Prime Minister Sharif and Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah of plotting the assassination.
