Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Sri Lanka is angry with cricket for showing interest in hosting the Asia Cup 2023 and has rejected a proposal to play a one-day bilateral series in the country. According to PCB sources, Sri Lanka asia cup India has expressed its desire to host the entire tournament, which has soured the relations between the cricket boards of these two countries.

Sources said, “An example of the friction between the cricket boards of these two countries is the PCB’s refusal to play the ODI series in Sri Lanka next month.” Pakistan is scheduled to tour Sri Lanka to play two Test matches in July this year as part of the next cycle of the ICC World Test Championship. Along with this, Sri Lanka had also proposed to play the ODI series in front of the PCB.
Asia Cup will be held in September
But reliable sources confirmed that the PCB had initially said that it would consider the proposal but has now rejected it. “It is a clear indication that the PCB is not happy with Sri Lanka Cricket’s offer to host the Asia Cup in September while it is Pakistan’s turn to host the regional tournament,” he said. The Asian Cricket Council may soon decide on hosting the Asia Cup.
BCCI refused to tour Pakistan
Let us tell you that last year Pakistan’s dream of hosting the Asia Cup was shattered when BCCI Secretary Jai Shah clearly said that Team India will not travel to Pakistan. Shah is also the president of the Asian Cricket Council. Later Pakistan introduced a hybrid model, which was rejected by the BCCI. There is talk of giving the hosting of the Asia Cup to Sri Lanka.
