Orgy of fire in Gopalganj, three including mother and son burnt, daughter dies due to burning alive

Gopalganj A massive fire broke out in Mahadalit colony located in Ward-10 of Kateya police station area. In this fire, a girl got burnt to death, while three people including mother and son got seriously burnt. The deceased girl was eight-year-old Kajal Kumari, daughter of Upendra Ram. In the fire, Upendra Ram’s wife Lalita Devi, 10-year-old son Monu Kumar and one and a half year old girl Aarushi Kumari were seriously burnt, who have been referred to the Medical College, Gorakhpur for better treatment from the local hospital.

It is said that Birendra Ram’s marriage took place in Upendra Ram’s house. On February 6, the entire family had gone to a mass wedding ceremony organized at Gahni Chakia in Gopalganj. After returning from the wedding ceremony, on the night of 7th February, all the family members, after cooking and eating, went to sleep. A fire broke out suddenly at 11 o’clock in the night. Before the family members could understand anything, the fire had taken a huge form. The flames started spreading everywhere.

Upendra Ram’s wife Lalita Devi came to know about the fire in the house after some time. When Lalita Devi and her 10-year-old son Monu Kumar came out of the fire after getting burnt, the nearby villagers came to know about it. Eight-year-old Kajal Kumari, trapped in the house, could not be saved due to the intensity of the flames. He died due to burning in his house. Aarushi Kumari, one and a half year old daughter of Jitendra Ram, resident of Musahari Bazar village of Vijaypur police station area, also got burnt.

Aarushi had come to her maternal uncle’s wedding, got burnt

Aarushi had come with her mother to her maternal uncle’s house for the wedding ceremony. In the fire, the furniture, sofa, wardrobe and all the items kept in the house found in the wedding ceremony were burnt to ashes. On receiving information from the local people, the fire brigade team arrived and after much effort the fire was brought under control. According to the victim’s family, property worth around Rs 6 lakhs was burnt to ashes in the fire. Everyone was saddened by the incident. The family members left for the medical college to get the people burnt in the fire treated.

BDO investigated, found relief material

On receiving the information, Kateya BDO Dheeraj Kumar Dubey, Nagar Panchayat President Rajesh Rai, Vice President representative Shailesh Chaubey and other representatives reached the spot and started investigating the accident. It is not clear how the fire started. After the fire, the entire family has been forced to live under the open sky. However, BDO provided immediate relief material like tarpaulin, check of Rs 11,000, blanket, ration. The administration assured that whatever plan will be made, the victim’s family will be helped.
