On the instructions of the District Magistrate, markets will remain open on Diwali and Govardhan, there will be no weekly closure

Agra. On the recommendation of trade boards, the District Magistrate has directed to open the main markets of the city on Diwali and Govardhan. In such a situation, the weekly closure on Sunday will now be kept on 13th November and the weekly closure falling on Govardhan day will be kept on 12th November. The District Magistrate has taken this decision due to the festival.

A request was made by various trade boards of Agra to allow opening of business establishments on Dhanteras and Diwali. On this request, DM Bhanuchandra Goswami, under Section 8(2) of the Uttar Pradesh Shops and Commercial Establishments Act 1962 and its related rules, 1963, except the exempted shops and commercial establishments included in Schedule 2, other shops and commercial establishments located in Agra district will be closed on Dhanteras. And permission has been given to open shops on Diwali. Now there will be weekly closure on 13th November. In this sequence, permission has been given to open shops on Govardhan also on 14th November. The markets which were closed weekly on Tuesday will now be closed on November 20 instead. A request was made to allow opening of business establishments on Diwali. These markets will remain open

All these markets will remain open on the day of Diwali, including Belanganj, Gudari Mansoorkhan, Dhuliaganj, Freeganj, Pathwari, Lane Mashala, Chhattabazar, Kacharighat, Philippganj, Daresi No. 3 Jamuna Kinara, New Market Jeevandi, Transport Nagar, Bans Darwaza, Motiganj, Gali Barahbhai, Shops at Noori Darwaza, Asafoetida Mandi, Sanjay Place will remain open.

Fatehpur Sikri Municipality

The broker’s shop located in Fatehpur Sikri Municipality area, all the shops and commercial establishments located in Jagner Town area, fertilizer, seed, diesel engine, pumpset, electric motor monoblock, Mobil oil shops located in Kirawali Town area will also remain open.
