Ather Family Scooter: Electric two-wheeler manufacturing startup Ather Energy is now preparing to launch a family scooter to compete with its competitors Ola Electric and Bajaj Auto. Recently, its spyshots have surfaced during testing. Ather Energy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and co-founder Tarun Mehta has also revealed that the electric two-wheeler company is going to launch a family scooter in the domestic market. He said that this family scooter can be launched in the market in early 2024. He has also confirmed that this family scooter will be an updated version of Ather 450X.
How will the family scooter be?
Ather Energy CEO Tarun Mehta said that this family scooter will not only be an updated version of Ather 450X, but will also be provided with advanced features. He said that the upcoming family electric scooter will be completely new, whose design will be much bigger than the Ather 450 series e-scooter. According to spyshots, it will have a horizontal headlight cluster, a telescopic front fork, 12-inch alloy wheels and a front disc brake. Like the 450 model, a mid-drive motor will also be used in the new electric scooter. However, Tarun Mehta has not made any disclosure about its performance or its range. It is expected that Ather Energy may use a smaller battery in the base variant of the upcoming electric scooter to keep the starting price low and make it more affordable.
Ather family scooter design
Media reports and spy shots suggest that this family scooter has a very clean design with slim headlamp and tail lamp units. It has a grab rail and a long and wide seat, which means there should be enough room for the pillion and rider to move around. It also has a side step for the rear occupants and a flat floor. This makes it easier for the rider to keep luggage on the floorboard.
Tires will be tubeless
It is also being said in the media reports that Ather Energy’s family scooter alloy wheels have been used. U will be completely tubeless tyres. Disc brake has been used in the front. However, it has not been revealed yet whether a hub-mounted motor will be used in this family scooter or a belt-operated motor will be installed. Till now all Ather scooters are using belt driven motor. Ather family scooter will compete with TVS iQube in the market.
Ather Energy is also working on other scooters
Along with the family scooter, Ather Energy is also working on other scooters. This second scooter is 450. Regarding this, Ather Energy CEO Tarun Mehta said that this is a developed product of 450 series. He said that it will come with a premium price. It is important to know that even though the price of the current 450 series is higher than other electric scooters in the Indian market, the performance, features and handling of the 450 series are excellent. However, it is not yet clear whether Ather will make changes to make the Energy 450 series more attractive or not.
