Number of students going to coaching is increasing in Jharkhand, 45.3% students depend on school as well as tuition

In Bihar, the education department has directed to stop the operation of coaching institutes from 9 am to 4 pm, so that the number of students in government schools can increase. After this new instruction, once again questions are being raised on the over dependence of children on coaching classes. More than 3000 coaching is being operated in Jharkhand also. In this, the maximum number is of coaching institutes which provide education from 6th to 12th standard. According to the Jharkhand Coaching Association, 60 percent of the coaching schools are based on education or syllabus.

Attendance of 11th-12th students decreased

Schools say that the attendance of 11th-12th students in the academic year is less. Most of the students are those who are preparing for Medical, Engineering, CA-CS exams. A private school had conducted a survey of the attendance of the students, in which it was found that the absence was due to coaching test series. The school administrators discussed this issue in the board meeting. Now 75 percent attendance will have to be completed in any case. If the attendance is not completed, the student will not be allowed to appear in the phased pre-board examination to be held in the school.

Attendance figures in schools down by 38%

According to educationists, school children have become more dependent on coaching than school. Due to this the attendance in the school is getting affected. Earlier there was regular attendance of 40 children in the class, now it has reduced to 25 to 30. That is, there has been a decline of 25 to 38 percent in attendance. On the other hand, 60% of the coaching institutes operating in the city focus on the school syllabus. Coaching operators say that being a commercial institute, there is regular monitoring of each and every child. Attendance is also less in government schools: At the same time, the presence of children of government schools is also less visible in the class. When the children were asked the reason for this, they said that there are no teachers for many subjects in the school.

Increasing number of students going to coaching

According to the Annual Status of Education Report-2022, the proportion of children taking tuition in the country was 26.4% in 2018, which has increased to 30.5% in 2022. Whereas in Jharkhand in 2018, 36.9% school students were involved in coaching. Now this number has increased to 45.3% in 2022.

Former CBSE coordinator Dr. Manohar Lal said that the marks race among children is promoting the coaching trend. Parents are also responsible for this. They think that children will not succeed in the competition by studying in school. Children whose parents are not aware of the subject consider it a priority to enroll their children in coaching. However, if the student focuses on the school syllabus regularly, he can score better marks in the school and competitive exams as well.

CBSE circular 75% attendance mandatory

CBSE has recently issued a circular making 75% attendance mandatory for students from class 9th to 12th. This circular will have to be followed from August. The class teacher will mark the students whose attendance in the school is less. Also, marks will be deducted in the internal assessment if the attendance is less. Please tell that 20 marks are fixed on internal assessment in many subjects. A part of this is also the attendance in the class. Schools have been instructed to prepare regular reports of students with low attendance and provide them to the CBSE Regional Office.

Instructions to stop coaching in Bihar from 9 am to 4 pm

The Education Department of the Government of Bihar has decided to strictly enforce the attendance of the students to curb this. The department has asked the District Magistrates to implement this to fix the attendance of the students in government schools, as well as from 9 in the morning Instructions have been given to keep the operation of coaching institutes closed till 4 pm.

AIIMS has also expressed concern

A few days back, AIIMS has also expressed concern over this in an order saying: It has been observed that the attendance of students in lecture classes is less and they are more interested in coaching classes for the preparation of PG entrance exams.

Coaching Association said, we give special facility

Jharkhand Coaching Association President Sunil Jaiswal said that top faculty teach in the coaching institute. Along with this, students are given study material on the basis of syllabus, so that children understand the syllabus in normal language. Apart from this, backup class or doubt class session is also being given to the children in case of missing the class.
