Regarding the Braj Mandal Yatra, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has said that in view of the Nuh incident at the beginning of the month, it is the duty of the government to ensure that law and order is maintained in the area. Our police and administration have decided that instead of taking out Braj Mandal Shobhayatra, go to nearby temples and offer prayers. Travel has not been allowed, but people can go and offer prayers at temples as it is the month of Sawan.

call for procession
In Haryana’s Nuh, on Monday, the organizers have called for a procession again. In view of the yatra, the authorities have ordered closure of educational institutions and banks on the day of the yatra. Apart from this, mobile internet and bulk SMS services have been suspended. Along with this, prohibitory orders have been imposed in the communally sensitive district. Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) Shatrujit Kapoor chaired a meeting with senior officers of bordering states through video conferencing and called for a coordinated effort to effectively deal with the situation.

Police officers from many states joined
Senior police officers from Punjab, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Union Territory of Chandigarh attended the meeting. Kapoor said the administration has denied permission for the yatra in view of the G-20 Sherpa Group meeting to be held in Nuh from September 3 to 7 as well as to maintain law and order after the July 31 violence. . The state government has issued an order related to the possibility of spreading rumors through social media by anti-social elements before or during the yatra to be held on Monday. Nuh authorities had recently denied permission to organize the religious pilgrimage on 28 August. Earlier, due to communal violence on July 31, the procession was interrupted.

Banks and schools will remain closed
The government announced the decision to suspend mobile internet service from August 26-28 in view of the possibility of spreading rumors through social media before or during Monday’s proposed yatra. Nuh’s Deputy Commissioner Dhirendra Khadgata said that schools, colleges and banks will remain closed on August 28. He said that the general movement of the public is also restricted. He said that people are advised to keep their shops closed on Monday also and prohibitory orders under section 144 of CrPC would be strictly implemented. No yatra is allowed, he added. In Haryana’s Nuh Weeks after the Jalabhishek Yatra was attacked and stopped, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Saturday said a ‘Shobha Yatra’ would be taken out in the area on August 28.

The VHP said that there is no need to seek permission from the administration for such religious events. The VHP said it will, however, inform the administration about the Shobha Yatra and is ready to discuss its shape and size, as it does not want to affect the upcoming G20 event. VHP Joint General Secretary Surendra Jain told a press conference here on Saturday that the yatra would not be taken out by the VHP, but by the Sarva Hindu Samaj of Mewat. He said, Sarv Hindu Samaj has decided to take out and complete the yatra. We also do not want to let any heat affect the G20 event in any way. We are ready to discuss with the administration about the shape and form of the yatra to be held on 28th August.

He also appealed to the people of other areas of Haryana to take out similar yatras in their respective areas and not join the yatra being conducted in Mewat. He said, we have called upon the people to ensure that no one from outside Mewat participates in the yatra on August 28. The order to suspend mobile internet service was issued on Saturday by Additional Chief Secretary (Home) TVSN Prasad. Officials said that the district administration has also imposed Section 144 (Prohibitory Order) of the Code of Criminal Procedure as a precautionary measure, under which the gathering of four or more people in an area has been banned. He said that this order will be effective from 26 to 28 August.
During this period, no person will be allowed to carry licensed firearms, sticks etc.

The Haryana government had earlier also suspended mobile internet services in Nuh following communal violence. Communal violence broke out in Nuh after a mob attacked a VHP procession on July 31, killing six people, including two home guards and an imam. According to an official statement issued on Saturday, police chief Kapoor said that there is information that some organizations have invited people from Haryana and neighboring states to reach Nuh on August 28, despite not being allowed to travel. Kapoor said that all necessary arrangements have been made by the Haryana Police in view of the proposed yatra. He said police personnel have been deployed to maintain law and order and mobile internet has been suspended in Nuh as a precautionary measure.

He said that interstate barricading should also be done to prevent any kind of gathering of people. He said that no one would be allowed to take law in their hands. Kapoor said that Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Mamta Singh will be the nodal officer and will be posted in Nuh. He told the police officers of the border states that if any incident disturbing communal harmony comes to their notice, it should be shared at the right time, so that preventive action can be taken in time. Earlier on Friday, Nuh Deputy Commissioner Dhirendra Khadgata wrote a letter to the Additional Chief Secretary (Home) informing that the ‘Sarva Jatiya Hindu Mahapanchayat’ called for ‘Brajmandal Shobhayatra’ to be held again on August 28 in the district.

Requesting to issue necessary instructions, the Deputy Commissioner wrote, “To avoid any untoward situation, it is necessary to stop all mobile internet and bulk SMS (sending a large number of messages together) service in Nuh district.” Prasad said in his order issued on Saturday that mobile internet, bulk SMS (except banking and mobile recharge) are being temporarily closed. Apart from this, all dongle services provided on mobile networks, except voice calls, will also be temporarily closed. In view of the Yatra call, the neighboring districts of Nuh including Gurugram and Faridabad have been asked to be vigilant. According to the Faridabad Police, it has come to its notice that some anti-social elements are spreading misleading news through social media that the yatra has been allowed and encouraging people to participate in it.

He said that such people are being monitored and strict action will be taken against them. Meanwhile, in Chandigarh, Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda, when asked about the proposed yatra, said that it is everyone’s right to organize yatras. Hooda said, “No one should object to the yatras, but the government should take precaution in every case considering its seriousness.” Despite knowing everything last time, the government did not take proper steps regarding the security of the yatra and the government did not take cognizance of the provocative statements and due to this violence took place. Hooda said that even during the previous Congress government, religious yatras were taken out, but there was never any incident of violence. He alleged that such incidents have become common in the BJP government.
