Announcing the launch of WhatsApp Channels, Sandhya Devanathan, head of Meta India, said in a LinkedIn post: “Excited by this launch – we are launching WhatsApp Channels in India, a simple, reliable and convenient way to get updates that matter to you. It’s a personal way. We’re welcoming some of the biggest Indian and global celebrities, sports teams, artists and creators that you can follow directly on WhatsApp (Indian cricket team, Diljit Dosanjh, Katrina Kaif, to name a few).
Sandhya Devanathan, head of Meta India, said about the launch of WhatsApp Channel, our aim with WhatsApp Channel is to provide the most personal broadcasting service, where people can choose to follow the account based on their interests and hobbies.
