Lucknow : The task of extinguishing the fire in the capital is in the hands of a handful of firefighters. With the help of limited resources, they have to douse the fire from the city to the villages. In view of this, the fire department is worried about the safety of the students studying in the coachings. Now the fire department will get all the necessary standards of fire prevention fulfilled in these coaching centers. For this, the department has sought details of all the coaching centers from the Directorate of Education.
Let us tell you that on June 15, due to a fire in a coaching center in Mukherjee Nagar, Delhi, many students jumped down from the third floor with the help of a rope. Four students were injured in this. After this, on June 24, a complex in Badshahnagar also caught fire. There is a coaching on the third floor of this building, although the morning shift children had gone home before the fire broke out. Taking cognizance of these incidents, the fire department has started the exercise of ‘fire proofing’ the coachings. For this, CFO Mangesh Kumar has sought information about registered coaching centers from the Directorate of Education.
The CFO has also sought a report on the fire prevention arrangements given in the documents submitted by the coaching operators. On this basis the coachings will be scrutinised. Notice will be given to the coaching operator if the standard of fire prevention is not met in the investigation. After this, the operator will have to complete the arrangements within the stipulated time. If there is a flaw in this, the report will be sent to the Directorate of Education and the police for action. Along with this, a letter will also be sent to the LDA to check the map and other facilities of the coaching center building.
Every student will have fire brigade number
The fire department will also make students aware. For this, there will be awareness programs in the coaching centers and students will be told the methods of rescue in case of fire. Every student will also be given the numbers of Police Control Room and Fire Brigade and FSO of the area.
Why can’t there be strictness?
At the same time, the fire department does not have the power to take action against any institution or building owner. He can investigate and issue a notice and send its report to the district administration, but cannot take action. In the midst of this struggle, the action against the owner of the building, who does not complete the arrangements for fire prevention, remains limited to issuing a notice only. At present, the government is working on preparing new rules to give the fire department the power to take action.
