Experience cycle safaris at Pench Tiger Reserve: Tourists of Pench Tiger Reserve in Maharashtra will now be able to experience cycle safaris. Till now there were only jeep and canter safaris in Pench National Park and Tiger Reserve. Cycle safari is a great addition as it will increase the adventure factor and is also beneficial for the environment.

At present, this new attraction has been added to the Kolitmara range in West Pench. The cycle safari will be on Kolitmara to Kunwara Bhiwasen road. This section is 48 km long and it takes the visitors through the forested areas of Narhar, Banera and Chargaon.

Pench Tiger Reserve is not only popular for tigers but also for other animals like leopard and sloth bear. But visitors need not worry about bicycle safaris. It is not the same as the core areas of the reserve. The Kolitmara range is quite peaceful, beautiful and perfect for activities like cycling.

Know how much is the fee

If travelers bring their own cycles, they will be charged Rs.100 per person as safari charges. However, if the visitors are renting a bicycle from the Pench Tiger Reserve, it will cost them Rs 300 per day per person. Cycle safari groups will consist of two to six persons per group. An experienced guide will be appointed, whose guide fee will cost the group Rs 1000.

Strong start from 20 August 2023

The cycle safari started on 20th August 2023 with great enthusiasm, where around 80 participants took part in the event. The participants belonged to all age groups. History of Pench National Park

Pench National Park is spread over an area of ​​292.83 square kilometers in Seoni and Chhindwara districts. The park is named after the Pench river that divides these two districts and flows from north to south. Let us tell you that this place was originally declared a sanctuary in 1977, then in 1983 it was made a national park. Pench National Park, which has the distinction of being the best tiger reserve, was made a tiger reserve in the year 1993.

In the year 2002, the name of this park was changed from Pench to Indira Priyadarshini National Park. The park’s natural richness is also mentioned in the 16th century document Ain-i-Akbari during the reign of Emperor Akbar of the Mughal era. This park is also known as Mowgli Land.
