Now dreaded Naxalites will also study for ITI in Bihar, know Nitish government’s preparation for surrendered hardcores

Efforts are being made by the Bihar government to bring the surrendered dreaded Naxalites into the mainstream. The central government has issued a notification for the rehabilitation of Naxalites and their inclusion in the mainstream in all the affected states. On the basis of this notification, Nitish government is also giving them exemption from the desired qualification required for admission in ITI. Along with this, pre-ITI course has also been arranged for them. Naxalites who surrender can take advantage of this.

Nine ITIs have been identified in the state

Nine ITIs and 11 skill development centers have been identified by the state government to give surrendered Naxalites a chance to move forward. Police Headquarters ADG Jitendra Singh Gangwar said that under the Surrender-cum-Rehabilitation Scheme, the state government is giving Rs 5 lakh to high-ranking Left Wing Extremists while Rs 2.5 lakh is being given to other categories of Naxalites. Along with this, there is a provision to give them a monthly allowance of six thousand rupees to make a living in the month. Under this scheme, 98 Maoists have surrendered since April 1, 2013. Out of this, 42 are being given the benefit of the scheme.

Naxalism confined in 10 districts

In Bihar, security forces are continuously conducting operations in Naxal affected areas. Its effect is being seen. According to the report of Bihar Police Headquarters, from the year 2004 to 2018, 22 districts in the state were Naxal affected. Which was reduced to only 16 districts from 2018 to 2021. Due to the campaign going on in the last one year, there are Naxalites in only 10 districts in Bihar. There were 40 Naxal incidents in Bihar in 2018. Which reduced to only 13 in 2022. Till this year 32 Maoists have been arrested. While two have surrendered.
