North East Express Accident: North East Express derails near Raghunathpur, six dead, 300 injured

12506 Down North-East Express derailed and crashed near Raghunathpur station on Danapur-Buxar railway section at 9.45 pm on Wednesday night. In this accident, a total of 23 coaches of the train derailed, out of which six coaches overturned and got damaged. Apart from this, one compartment climbed on another compartment. Six people died in this incident, while more than 300 people were injured. The condition of 80 to 100 injured people is critical. 22 injured were sent to Patna late night. The death toll may increase.

However, Buxar DM Anshul Aggarwal said that only four people have died. It is said that after leaving Buxar, the train was moving towards Patna at high speed. According to sources, as soon as the train reached Raghunathpur station near Gumti, it crashed with a strong shock while changing the point. The speed of the train was so fast that four sleeper bogies reached the end of the platform. The pantry car and the two coaches adjacent to it were overturned near the crossing. Many electric poles and wires were damaged in this accident. Govind Kumar, sitting in bogie number B-7, called BollywoodWallah and told that there was an outcry after the bogies derailed. However, within a short time of the incident, the local police-administration and villagers reached there and started helping the people.

Here, RPF Commandant CK Panda told that North-East Express was coming from Anand Bihar Terminal. Six to seven bogies derailed near Raghunathpur station between Dumraon and Bihiya. Brahmapur Police and Dial 112 vehicles immediately reached the spot. Range DIG Naveen Chandra Jha also reached the incident site late in the night. DM Anshul Aggarwal and Police Captain Manish Kumar also reached the incident site. Here, many senior officers from Danapur including DRM DK Choudhary, RPF Inspector Deepak Kumar, Senior DCM Saraswati Chand and DK Panda left for the incident site by medical relief train. Apart from this, another medical relief train was sent to Raghunathpur. According to officials, the loco pilot has suffered serious injuries. Patients are being treated in Buxar, Arrah and Patna. Patna, Danapur, Buxar and Arrah stations were alerted immediately after the incident.

Due to this incident, railway operations have been disrupted. Many trains remained stopped at various places. Dozens of trains including Rajendra Nagar-Kurla Express, Kumbh Express, Patna-Buxar Memu Passenger Train, Patna-Pune remained stuck between Patna and Arrah. Railways has changed the route of 21 trains. These trains will be run via DDU, Sasaram and Arrah and some trains will be run via DDU, Gaya and Patna. After the accident, both the up and down lines came to a standstill. Two trains Kashi-Patna-Kashi Janshatabdi will remain canceled on Thursday.
