Nitish Kumar will prove majority on February 10, if Awadh Bihari does not step down, voting will also take place on no-confidence motion.

Patna. Nitish government will receive trust vote in the assembly only on 10th February. All preparations for this have started. This decision was taken in a high level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha were present in this meeting held at the Chief Minister’s residence. Earlier there was talk of the Legislature session being held from February 12. In fact, NDA has given a no-confidence motion against the current Assembly Speaker Avadh Vihari Chaudhary on January 28 itself. In such a situation, as per rules, the session of the legislature can be called only after 14 days. That is why 10th February has been fixed. After this there will be further budget session. This process will be conducted separately. It can be run beyond 12th February.

This will be just a formality

On February 10, first of all, a no-confidence motion will be brought against the Speaker of the Assembly. After removing him from the post, Nitish government will seek trust vote in the House. However, this will be only a formality. Because, Nitish Kumar has absolute majority in the House. He has the support of 128 MLAs. This is more than the majority figure of 123. Apart from JDU and BJP, the new government also has the support of us and an independent MLA. While BJP has 78 MLAs and JDU 45, we have four MLAs.

Voting on no-confidence motion will be held for the fourth time

This is the second time in the 17th Assembly that a no-confidence motion has come against the Speaker of the Assembly. This is also the first time that this has happened twice in a single assembly term. Before this, in the year 2022, a no-confidence motion had come against the outgoing Assembly Speaker and current Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha. This is the fourth occasion when a no-confidence motion has been presented against an Assembly Speaker. Before this, no-confidence motion was also brought against Shivchandra Jha and Vindhyashwari Prasad Verma of Congress.

All decisions regarding legislature canceled

As soon as Chief Minister Nitish Kumar resigned, other decisions including the budget session of the Legislature were automatically cancelled. Not only this, all the questions asked in the session also ended. Now MLAs and MLCs will have to submit questions to be asked afresh in the House.

Choudhary kept working all day long

Assembly Speaker Awadh Vihari Chaudhary came to the Assembly like a normal day and continued completing his routine work. A red light also lit outside his room for some time while he completed the necessary work. However, he also talked to some lawmakers and consulted with them. On the other hand, Assembly Deputy Speaker Maheshwar Hazari was also present in his room on the first floor. They also continued doing their normal work.
