NIA Raid in Jharkhand: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday raided several places in Jharkhand-Bihar against Naxalite supporters. Apart from Bokaro, Dhanbad, Giridih, Ranchi and Ramgarh in Jharkhand, a total of six places of Khagaria, Gaya and Aurangabad were raided in Bihar. The team of NIA Ranchi raided the houses of five people belonging to Mazdoor Sangathan Samiti in Bokaro and Dhanbad at five in the morning. During this a large number of SAT jawans were deployed.
According to NIA officials, supporters and ground workers of CPI Maoist Naxalite organization are again trying to revive and spread the idea of Maoists these days. Due to this the raid was done. There are indications about the suspects whose houses were searched that they are associated with Politburo members and Central Committee members of the CPI Maoist Naxalite organization. A case was registered in Ranchi NI on 25 April 2022 regarding the matter. Top Naxalite Mishir Besra, Vivek, Anal, Pramod Mishra, Nambala Keshav Rao, Muppala Laxman Rao, Venugopal, Sudarshan, Prashant Bose, Savyasanchi Goswami and others have been made accused in the case.
Damodar of Western Tundi questioned for eight hours
The NIA laid siege to Damodar Turi’s house in Nawada village of West Tundi and took him into custody. He was interrogated for eight hours at Maniadih police station. The team searched Damodar’s residence for hours. The investigating agency suspects him of having links with the Maoists. Damodar Turi is said to be associated with Anti-Displacement Forum and Labor Organization Committee. He had come to attend a wedding ceremony in his village. During this raid was done.
NIA reached Thanu Ram’s house in Peertand
The NIA interrogated Thanu Ram Mahto, associated with the Labor Organization Committee, in Harladih village of Pirtand for hours. Thanu was questioned on several points regarding Bachha Singh. It is said that Bacha Singh used to give legal advice to the members of the Labor Organization Committee and also used to give advice on many issues. NIA returned after interrogating Thanu for about three hours.
Raid where in Bokaro
Raid at the residence of Bacha Singh, Central General Secretary of Mazdoor Sangathan Samiti, Nishanhat, Bokaro Thermal Police Station area, HMD 50D, Nageshwar Mahto’s residence, HMD 36A, Sanjay Turi’s private residence, Nishanhat slum area and Anil Hansda’s house at Aiyer, Mahuatand police station area. Trade union committee was banned in 2017, removed in 2022
The Mazdoor Sangathan Samiti was banned on 22 December 2017 on the instructions of the then state government. After this, on December 30, 2017, the committee’s office in DVC’s residential colony located at Bokaro Thermal was also sealed by the then Police Inspector on the instructions of Bokaro DC and is still sealed today. The Jharkhand High Court had freed the committee from the ban on 11 February 2022.
Activity in Dhanbad as well
Mazdoor Sangathan Samiti is active in all the three districts of Dhanbad, Bokaro and Giridih. There is an office of the union at Angarpathra in Dhanbad, which is closed these days. Union’s Bacha Singh remains active in all the three districts. There was a lot of discussion in Katras regarding the NIA raid.
