NIA filed charge sheet against Faizan, many sections imposed

Ranchi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a charge sheet in the special court of Ranchi on Monday against Faizan Ansari alias Faiz, associated with the Jharkhand module of the terrorist organization Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). Various sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Indian Penal Code have been imposed in this. Faiz was caught from Lohardaga on July 20, 2023, while his associate Umar Bahadur alias Rahul Sen was caught from Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh in September.

NIA investigation has revealed that Faiz was actively involved in propagating the ideology of violent extremism adopted by ISIS. He was trying to increase his activities all over India. The accused had taken oath of allegiance to the self-proclaimed Caliph (leader) of ISIS. Faiz was engaged in carrying out acts of preparation for terrorist violence through recruitment of individuals into the organization and its causes.

The investigation also found that he created several cyber groups on Telegram and Instagram platforms for dissemination of terrorist propaganda material including ISIS magazines ‘Voice of Hind’ and ‘Voice of Khorasan’ with the aim of influencing and recruiting impressionable youth and operated it.

According to NIA, Faiz and Umar are members of ISIS. Both had conspired to further the illegal activities of the organization with the intention of creating fear and terror and endangering the security of India as well as its secular ethos, culture and democratic system of governance.

FIR was lodged on 19 July 2023

After receiving information from the Home Ministry regarding the conspiracy, NIA had registered an FIR against Faizan Ansari and others on July 19, 2023. The investigation so far in this case has revealed a big conspiracy involving international relations and the involvement of ISIS operators based abroad.
