In the latest crackdown against cadres of the banned Popular Front of India, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is conducting searches at over a dozen places in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Goa and Ludhiana in Punjab.

NIA clamps down on dentist Dr. Sarik Raza in Bihar

In the case related to the banned organization Popular Front of India in Bihar, the NIA raided Dr. Sarik Raza, a dentist located in Urdu Bazar of Darbhanga city and Mehboob, a resident of Shankarpur village of Singhwara police station area.

Government of India banned PFI for five years

Government of India has banned Popular Front of India for five years due to terrorist funding and other activities. The Ministry of Home Affairs has banned this organization under the UAPA Act. Apart from PFI, their associate organizations Rehab India Foundation, Campus Front of India, All India Imam Council, National Confederation of Human Rights Organisation, National Women Front, Junior Front, Empower India Foundation and Rehab Foundation (Kerala) have also been banned.

PFI was formed through three Muslim organizations

The PFI was formed in 2007 through the merger of three Muslim organizations in southern India, the National Democratic Front in Kerala, Karnataka Forum for Dignity and Manitha Neeti Pasarai in Tamil Nadu.
