In the month of August, many luxury segment cars are going to be launched in the country and the world. In this month, Tata Motors’ Punch is going to be launched with CNG engine, then Mahindra & Mahindra will launch its new Scorpio N pickup truck in South Africa. On the other hand, Mercedes Benz is also preparing to launch the second generation SUV. Along with this, two electric SUVs of Volvo and Audi will also be launched. Tata Punch CNG

Tata Motors will launch the Punch in the CNG version on August 1, 2023. However, the automobile company showcased the CNG version of the Tata Punch at the Auto Expo earlier this year. This will be the fourth CNG model of the Tata Punch, but the second model with a twin-cylinder tank. The 1.2-litre, three-cylinder engine will be carried over from the petrol model and will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. In petrol mode it produces 86hp and 113Nm of torque, while in CNG mode it will produce 77hp and 97Nm of peak torque. When launched, the CNG model of the Tata Punch will compete with the Hyundai Xtor CNG.

New Mercedes-Benz GLC

German automaker Mercedes Benz will launch the new second generation SUV in early August itself. The company had unveiled this SUV last year. This SUV will be available in the car market as GLC 300 petrol and GLC 220d diesel models. Both these models will get Mercedes’ 4Matic all-wheel drive system. Both the 2.0-litre engines get a 48V integrated starter motor, which provides an additional 23hp power. The interior of the SUV is almost identical to the new C-Class and gets two screens, including a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and an 11.9-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen.

Mahindra Scorpio N Pickup Truck

India’s automobile manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra will launch the Scorpio N pickup truck in South Africa on 15 August. However, the Scorpio N pickup truck lifestyle segment in India is still at a nascent stage. Both these vehicles are very popular in South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. However, Mahindra already sells the Scorpio Getaway in the overseas car markets under the Goa and Pik-Up brands.

Audi Q8 e-tron electric car

In view of the increasing popularity of electric vehicles in India, Audi is preparing to launch the Q8 e-tron in the car market on 18 August. Audi has just launched the Q8 e-tron in India and it is basically a facelift of the Audi e-tron SUV. The Q8 e-tron is still available in SUV and coupe body styles and gets a redesigned front fascia, rear bumper with ‘Audi’ lettering on the B-pillar and ‘Q8 e-tron quattro’. As before, the Q8 e-tron is available in 50 and 55 trims with 95kWh and 114kWh batteries. The large battery has a range of up to 600 km on a single charge. The twin electric motors in the Q8 e-tron 55 produce 408hp and 664Nm of torque. About this, Audi says that the Q8 e-tron can support 170kW DC fast charging.

Toyota Rumian

During this August, Toyota will introduce a small MPV, which will be called Rumion. Based on the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, the Rumian MPV is already available in markets like South Africa and is manufactured and supplied by Maruti Suzuki. Like all badge-engineered Maruti Suzuki and Toyota products, it remains mechanically identical to the model it is based on. It gets a 103hp, 137Nm, 1.5-litre petrol engine, which is mated to a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The CNG model is expected to come soon.
