New variant of Mahindra Scorpio, 7 seater enemy of Tata Safari

Mahindra Scorpio N Z8 Select: The market competition between Mahindra Scorpio and Tata Safari has been going on for a long time. Due to their similar looks, both of them have a class of their own in the off-road SUV segment. Their market size is also different compared to other cars. While Tata is continuously updating its Safari, Mahindra is also launching Scorpio in a new avatar. Mahindra & Mahindra launched Mahindra Scorpio-N in the market in June 2023. Now it has introduced it in a new avatar Mahindra Scorpio-N Z8 Select variant. The specialty of this off-road SUV is that the company is continuously updating it. Mahindra Scorpio N Z8 Select: Variants

Domestic giant Mahindra, after revamping the 7 seater Mahindra Scorpio N earlier this year, has now introduced a new Z8 Select variant. This SUV sits between the mid-spec Z6 and high-spec Z8 trims. The company has launched it in the market with two variants Z8 and Z8 Select. The most important thing is that the Z8 Select variant of Scorpio N is cheaper than the next-in-line Z8 trim by about Rs 1.66 lakh. Let us tell you that like the Z8 trim, the Z8 Select is also available only in 7-seater layout.

Mahindra Scorpio N Z8 Select: Features

The Mahindra Scorpio-N Z8 Select borrows several exterior features from the next-in-line Z8 trim. Talking about its features, it has dual-barrel LED headlights with LED DRL, 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and LED projector fog lamp. The carmaker is now also offering the SUV with the Midnight Black exterior shade of the XUV700, which is exclusive to the new Z8 Select variant for now. There are also similarities with the cabin of the regular Scorpio N Z8, as the Z8 Select comes with the same black and gray cabin theme with leatherette upholstery.

As features on offer, it has an 8-inch touchscreen, 7-inch digital driver display, connected car technology and sunroof with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Like the Z8, the Z8 Select does not have dual-zone AC, push-button start/stop and auto-headlights. For the safety of passengers, Z8 Select has been provided with electronic stability control, 6 airbags and ISO fixed child seat anchorage.

Mahindra Scorpio N Z8 Select: Engine

Mahindra is offering the Scorpio NZ8 Select variant with both petrol and diesel engines with their respective manual and automatic gearbox options. It has a 2-litre turbo-petrol, which is capable of generating peak torque of 370 Nm and 380 Nm with a maximum power of 203 PS. At the same time, its 2.2-liter diesel engine generates maximum power of 175 PS and peak torque of 400 Nm. Its 2-litre turbo-petrol engine is provided with 6-speed MT/6-speed AT transmission. Mahindra offers this SUV with 4-wheel drivetrain only in the top-spec Z8L diesel manual and automatic variants.

Mahindra Scorpio N Z8 Select: Price and competition

The ex-showroom price of Mahindra Scorpio-NZ8 Select ranges between Rs 13.60 lakh to Rs 24.54 lakh. In the market, it competes with monocoque SUVs like Tata Harrier and Tata Safari, apart from compact SUVs like Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. As an alternative, you can also choose Mahindra XUV700.
