Purnia. There is a good news for the people who were hoping to start air services from Purnia Airport. Airport Authority officials said that project approval related to Purnia Airport, design work of the airport and appointment of consultant for the same have been completed. The issue is now stuck regarding 15 acres of land, and continuous meetings are being held to resolve it. It is expected that this issue will be resolved by next month. Airport Authority and State Government officials are busy in solving the complicated mystery of Purnia Airport. It is understood that once the mystery is resolved, the way for air flights from Purnia will be cleared.

Creative initiative taken towards solution

According to the information, during the recent talks held between the officials, this issue was seriously discussed and constructive initiatives were taken towards solving the technical problems faced in starting the airport. On the initiative of retired Wing Commander of the Indian Air Force Vishwajit Singh, talks were held on this issue between former Deputy CM of Bihar Tarkishore Prasad, Airport Authority officials and district administration officials.

Purnia DM gave assurance

It was clearly said in the meeting that to take the work forward, it is very necessary for the Bihar government to acquire 15 acres of land and construct the road soon. Purnia DM Kundan Kumar listened to everything and assured that soon these works will be completed and the airport authority will be informed about it. During this positive meeting, the former Deputy Chief Minister was assured that the work would be completed soon.

There should be direct contact between DM Purnia and top officials of Airport Authority

Recently, to understand the actual status of the work of Purnia Civil Airport and to move the stalled work forward in the right direction, officials related to the Purnia project of the Airport Authority were met with former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Tarkishore Prasad. To move the work of Purnia Airport pending since 2015 forward in the right direction, it was considered necessary that there should be direct contact between DM Purnia and top officials of the Airport Authority. Airport Authority officials said that they have been conveying their views to the Bihar government from time to time.

The acquired land is not connected by road

During this period the talks mainly focused on three points. First, 15 acres of additional land should be acquired at the right location adjacent to the given 52.18 acres so that the terminal building can be built as per the design. This demand was made by the Chairman Airport Authority in its letter dated October 30 to the Chief Secretary Bihar. The second topic focused on connecting the acquired land to the National Highway with a four-lane road so that the work of the airport can move forward. The currently acquired land is not connected to the road. The third issue was the airport authority taking NOC from the Air Force.
