New record of electricity consumption in Kerala amid scorching heat, figure crosses 100 million units three times in a row

Electricity Consumption: With the arrival of summer in the country, the consumption of electricity has also increased. As the mercury is rising, the power consumption per unit is also increasing. Same is the condition of Kerala, for the last few days the state is facing severe heat. Today life has become busy due to the heat. Palakkad district recorded a maximum temperature of 39.7 degree Celsius on the previous day i.e. Tuesday. Along with this, there has been a significant increase in electricity consumption in the state.

Power consumption crosses 10 crore units: According to the State Electricity Board, a new record of power consumption has been registered in the state. The daily consumption of electricity in Kerala touched the figure of 103.5 million units (MU) on 17 April. According to the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB), this is the third day this month when power consumption has crossed the 100 million units mark, a first in the state’s history.

New record of Biddle consumption: According to a KSEB official, on April 13, for the first time the power consumption was recorded above 10 crore units. Last year, the highest consumption was around 96 million units on April 28, the official said. The KSEB, however, said that even though the state is witnessing record consumption, the situation is under control as electricity is available at a cheaper rate from the power exchange.

People are troubled by the scorching heat in the country: Significantly, this time the outbreak of severe heat is being seen in the country. Bankura in West Bengal recorded the highest temperature of 43.7 degrees Celsius, while the capital Kolkata recorded a maximum temperature of 40 degrees Celsius. The temperature in Delhi has also reached 40 degrees. In Haryana and Punjab too, people are dying due to the scorching heat. In many districts of UP, the temperature has crossed 40 degrees.
