New hard and soft coke plant will not be set up in Dhanbad, decision of Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board

Jharkhand News: Now no new plant of hard coke and soft coke will be set up in Dhanbad. This decision has been taken by the Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board. This decision has been taken in view of the dangerous level of air pollution in Dhanbad. The order will continue till the air quality improves. On Tuesday, in the meeting held on National Clean Air Program at Palash Auditorium, Doranda, Ranchi, it was decided that new establishment consent (CTO) will not be given for new hard coke and soft coke.

Many suggestions given in the meeting

Pollution Board Chairman Shashikar Samanta presided over the meeting. Dhanbad’s District Forest Officer Vikas Paliwal was also present in this. The air quality situation of Dhanbad was discussed in the meeting. Guidelines were given to the mining units to improve the air quality. Also, it has been asked to ensure its compliance. It was suggested to the representatives of BCCL, SAIL and Tata Steel present in the meeting that they should do research and research related to air quality. Member Secretary YK Das, officials and employees of the Mining Department were also present in the meeting.

This ban was imposed for the second time in Dhanbad

Due to air pollution in Dhanbad, opening of new industries has been banned for the second time. Earlier in January 2010, the Ministry of Forest, Environment and Climate Change, Government of India had banned opening of new industries. This ban was effective till September 2013. Under that ban, a ban was imposed on the opening of new industries in Dhanbad Municipal Corporation area as well as in Nirsa, Govindpur and Jharia.
