Prahlad Kumar, Patna. The Transport Department has given permits to operate buses on more than 53 routes from various districts of Bihar to Jharkhand and Kolkata. The department has operated buses on 53 routes of Purnia-Bokaro, Sasaram-Ranchi, Ara-Dhanbad, Ara-Tata, Jehanabad-Ranchi, Jehanabad-Tata, Gaya-Ranchi, Navinagar-Tata, Jehanabad-Tata, Wazirganj-Kolkata and Aurangabad-Ranchi. Has been given permanent permission to operate. According to officials, after the commencement of operations on these routes, people will get convenience in transportation. Also, new routes have been selected for this. It has been decided to start operating buses on more than 40 new routes next year.
Transport Department will purchase electric buses in 2024
To improve passenger convenience in the state, electric city buses will be purchased in all other cities including Patna. It will start from 11 cities. Where 90 city buses will be purchased in the first phase. After this, city buses will be purchased in the remaining cities. The Transport Department has sent a proposal in this regard to the state government. The procurement of buses will start as soon as this proposal is approved. According to departmental sources, due to less width of roads in urban areas, it has been decided to introduce small buses on the roads, so that people can travel easier.
More than 30 buses will operate in Patna
According to the department, firstly Patna city will get 30 buses, Gaya 10, Muzaffarpur eight, Hajipur three, Chapra one, Vaishali two, Gopalganj three, Bhojpur three, Bodhgaya five, Rajgir 15, Nalanda 10 buses. Later, the number of city buses will be increased in the remaining cities after assessing the passengers.
New bus stops will be built, old ones will be repaired
Keeping in view the operation of buses, the department will build new bus stops in urban areas. Where bus stops have already been made and their condition is not good, then work will be done to repair them. In this regard, the department has instructed the districts to prepare a report.
Routes of autos and city buses will be decided
The department has said that the routes of auto and city buses will be decided before operating the buses. Routes on which autos are already operating. There will be less operation of buses in those areas. At the same time, the journey of these city buses will also be up to 30 kilometers. If the number of passengers is high, then consideration will be given to operating the buses beyond 30 kilometres.
