Network of bridge on river Ganga in Bihar, traffic and business will get a boost

With the commencement of 18 bridges on the river Ganges in Bihar, traffic and business will get a boost. Due to the absence of a bridge on the Ganga, people have to travel several kilometers. After the construction of the bridge on river Ganga, many areas of North and South Bihar will be connected, due to which time will be saved in commuting of people. At present, the bridges on which traffic is going on include Mokama-Rajendra Setu, Vikramshila Setu, Mahatma Gandhi Setu, two-lane bridge in Buxar, JP Setu and Ara-Chhapra bridge and Munger rail-cum-road bridge. There will be a total of 18 bridges in the length of 520 km of river Ganga in Bihar.

Ganga passes through 12 districts

Bihar has 12 districts located on the banks of river Ganga. These districts are Buxar, Bhojpur, Saran, Patna, Vaishali, Samastipur, Begusarai, Munger, Khagaria, Katihar, Bhagalpur and Lakhisarai. It is estimated that about Rs 5 lakh crore will be spent on infrastructure development in Bihar by the year 2024.

The people of Jharkhand, Bengal and UP will be benefited by the construction of the bridge.

The people of Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and Bengal will be benefited by the completion of all the bridges under construction in the state. The parallel bridge to Vikramshila in Bhagalpur is likely to be completed by December, 2025. This bridge will connect North and South Bihar. In the next four years, there will be 18 bridges on the river Ganges.

Traffic continues on these bridges

The bridges on which traffic is continuing include Mokama-Rajendra Setu, Vikramshila Setu, Mahatma Gandhi Setu, two-lane bridge in Buxar, JP Setu and Arrah-Chhapra bridge and Munger rail-cum-road bridge.

Raw dargah will be of six lanes – Bidupur bridge

A six-lane bridge is being constructed between Kachhi Dargah-Bidupur at a cost of about Rs 5000 crore. The construction of this longest 9.76 km cable-stayed bridge of Bihar started on 16 January 2017 and is likely to be completed in 2024. Apart from this, a bridge is to be built between Sultanganj to Agwani Ghat. Construction of rail-cum-road bridge in Simaria parallel to Rajendra Setu, Bakhtiyarpur-Tajpur bridge and two and a half kilometer long bridge between Buxar to Bhojpur is likely to be completed by 2021.

Bridge construction soon in these districts

1. It is likely to take about 36 months to build a bridge between Manihari in Katihar district and Sahibganj in Jharkhand at a cost of Rs 1900 crore.

2. About 4.5 kilometer long bridge parallel to Vikramshila Setu is to be constructed at a cost of Rs 1110 crore. It will be completed in 42 months. However, the responsibility of building this bridge has been given to SP Singla. This is the same company, which is building the Aguganighat bridge.

3. A 5 kilometer long bridge parallel to Mahatma Gandhi Setu is likely to be constructed in October at a cost of about 3000 crores. Its construction is likely to be completed in March 2024.

4. The 6 lane bridge parallel to JP Setu in Patna will be about 4.5 km long. The process of building this bridge at a cost of Rs 2200 crore is going on.

5. Apart from this, the process has been started to build a bridge between Danapur to Sherpur, Saran’s Dighwara. It will be a part of the 137 km long Ring Road of Patna.
