NDMA Starts Testing C-DOT Emergency Cell Broadcast Technology : The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has started testing the Emergency Cell Broadcast technology. A senior officer gave this information. This technology developed by C-DOT will ‘alert’ people at the time of natural calamity.

Sample test messages were sent to customers on Jio and BSNL networks. It was titled ‘Emergency Alert: Seaware’. C-DOT’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Rajkumar Upadhyay told that this technology is currently only with foreign vendors and hence C-DOT is developing it here.

Cell broadcast technology is being developed, he said. He said, it will be implemented by NDMA to send alerts directly to mobile phones at the time of disaster. Currently it is being tested on Jio and BSNL networks. Upadhyay said that the test would be done on an all-India basis.
