Lucknow: According to the data of National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), UP ranks 18th in the country in terms of crime in the year 2022. According to the NCRB report, the crime rate of UP is 171.6 compared to India’s crime rate of 258.1. At the same time, UP ranks 14th in crimes related to women and POCSO. UP ranks 28th in murder cases. UP is at 25th place in attempted murder, 30th in kidnapping for ransom, 24th in rape, 24th in rioting and 27th in robbery.
According to the data released by NCRB for 28 states and 8 union territories of the country, UP is at 25th position in terms of robbery. Similarly, UP is at 23rd place in terms of robbery. Uttar Pradesh’s rate of kidnapping incident has been 6.9 as compared to the national crime rate of 7.8. Uttar Pradesh ranks 12th among all the states in the crime of kidnapping.
ADG Law and Order Prashant Kumar has also issued his statement. He said that the Uttar Pradesh government and police have adopted a policy of zero tolerance against crime and criminals. He said that the efforts made in coordination with various departments are showing meaningful results in the NCRB data. If we look at the entire IPC crime, 11.2 percent of the crimes in India have occurred in UP this year. There are 19 states in IPC where more crimes have been committed than UP. The police has done good work in all major crimes. It has yielded pleasant results.
